This is a really beautiful specimen with long, blue, lustrous kyanite crystals intergrown with white quartz.
Kyanite is not only a beautiful gemstone but is also a mineral with an interesting geological history. It forms only at extremely high pressures – such as those that exist deep beneath mountain ranges as a result of continental collisions. It has been brought to the surface by hundreds of millions of years of erosion.
Handle with care as it sheds the odd crystal if roughly treated.
