KUNZITE CRYSTAL

Variety of spodumene

Afghanistan

Spodumene is a source of lithium.  It occurs in several colours but the transparent lilac variety is known as kunzite. Kunzite is used as a gemstone.

Kunzite was first discovered in 1902, and was named after the mineralogist George Kunz.

This crystal of kunzite is from an old collection.
