Afghanistan
Spodumene is a source of lithium. It occurs in several colours but the transparent lilac variety is known as kunzite. Kunzite is used as a gemstone.
Kunzite was first discovered in 1902, and was named after the mineralogist George Kunz.
This crystal of kunzite is from an old collection.
