(both valves present)

190 million years old

Pseudopecten

Lower Lias Clay
Blockley, Gloucestershire

The well-known Blockley Station Quarry has produced a large number of fossils since brickmaking on the site resumed after the war.  It is an important site because it displays a unique section of the Upper Clays of the Lower Lias that are not exposed elsewhere in the British Isles.

This fossil is from the ‘Pecten Bed’ at the quarry. It is from an old collection. Presented in a lidded gift box.
