JURASSIC FOSSIL WOOD - cut and polished section through log - Wiltshire

Latton, Wiltshire
A substantial section through a branch of a tree that was growing in the Jurassic period in what is now Wiltshire.
It is amazing to think that the foliage of this tree would most probably have been nibbled by passing dinosaurs. The forests at this time were inhabited by Cetiosauriscus, a giant herbivorous dinosaur related to the American Diplodocus.
It is very heavy and completely fossilised. A very nice example of fossilised wood from the UK. It displays well without the need for a stand.
