JURASSIC FOSSIL ECHINOIDS
(SEA URCHINS)

155 million years old

Dimmock's Cote Quarry, Upware,
Cambridgeshire

(from an old collection - collected in 1985)

The 'Corallian' rocks of Upware belong to a sequence of rocks known as the West Walton Formation. They form a low-lying ridge above the surrounding fens and consist of relatively soft limestones underlain by shelly marls. Fossils occur such as ammonites and these beautifully preserved echinioids or sea urchins.

These fossils are presented in a glass-fronted display box as shown.
