Great Oolite (Hampen Formation)
Woodeaton Quarry, Oxfordshire
Brachiopods are marine animals that look like small clams, but they have a different anatomy and are not closely related to clams or any other molluscs. They lived on the sea floor and were much more abundant during the Palaeozoic and Mesozoic eras than they are today.
These specimens are from an old collection. They are presented in a vintage, plastic display box with a hinged lid. The original collector's hand-written label is included.
