A lovely polished example of a bivalve from the classic Frodingham Ironstone quarries at Scunthorpe. It is a large, beautifully preserved single valve with some matrix still attached on the underside.

The shell is traversed by a white vein of calcite. It has not been repaired.
The ironstone quarries at Scunthorpe have long since closed.
