JURASSIC AMMONITES PRESERVED
IN A CLAYSTONE NODULE

190 million years old

Lower Lias

Marston Magna, near Yeovil, Somerset

A nodule which is crowded with small ammonites tightly packed together.  This is a small, but very attractive specimen where the ammonites have been carefully revealed by skilful preparation work.

Ammonites are extinct marine shellfish that were common during the age of the dinosaurs, a period of the Earth's history when much of England was submerged beneath warm seas.

The back has been polished. Presented in a lidded gift box.
