COLLECTION OF JURASSIC AMMONITES
In glass display box

190 million years old

Lower Lias.  Black Ven, Charmouth, near Lyme Regis, Dorset

A nice collection of eight little ammonites from the Jurassic Coast of Dorset.  Presented in a glass display box.

The ammonites are preserved in the mineral pyrite, which is often unstable. However, these fossils were collected in 1982 and are still in fairly good condition. They have been coated with a clear preservative and should be kept in an area of low humidity.

Ammonites are extinct marine shellfish that were common during the age of the dinosaurs.
