PART OF A JURASSIC AMMONITE SHOWING SUTURE LINES.

Holderness, Yorkshire
 

Part of a whorl of a Jurassic ammonite from North Yorkshire. Transported south to what is now the Holderness coast by an ice sheet during the Ice Age. 
 
It has been polished to reveal the complex suture lines that make up the divisions between the chambers of the ammonite's shell.
