JURASSIC AMMONITE

Example of the famous ammonite species Asteroceras obtusum.

190 million years old

Lower Lias.   Black Ven Mudstone.
Stonebarrow, Charmouth, Dorset

A Jurassic ammonite still half encased in the rock in which it was found.  The ammonite has been skilfully prepared by an expert professional collector at Lyme Regis.

This species is the most famous ammonite from the Dorset coast. A nice display item.

The block has a flat base so that it stands upright without the need of a stand.
