An ammonite in a boulder of Jurassic limestone. The limestone is packed with the fossils of other marine creatures such as brachiopods. A nice specimen that displays well. It was recovered from the beach at Holderness and is derived from the boulder clay. It originates in the Whitby area and was brought south to Holderness by an ice sheet.
