Graptolites were colonial animals that drifted in the surface waters of the oceans during the Palaeozoic Era. They have a worldwide distribution.
This particular species is known as a ‘tuning fork’ graptolite Didymograptus murchisoni.
This is a large and spectacular specimen - a museum-quality example.
