GEOLOGY OF THE MORETON-IN-MARSH DISTRICT
A brief explanation of the area covered by geological map Sheet 217

New copy

By A. J. M. Barron et al.

The British Geological Survey have produced these 'Sheet Explanations' to describe the geology of newly-surveyed 1:50,000 scale geological maps. They are effectively brief guides to the geology of the area.

The Moreton-in-Marsh geological map includes the northernmost part of the Cotswolds. The area has an abundance of fossils and numerous rock exposures dating from the Lower and Middle Jurassic.

These sheet explanations are only brief (in this case 30 pages) but they are packed with information and colour photographs.  They are written in a technical style so are not suitable for those with no previous knowledge of geology.

A5 booklet with soft cover. 30 pages. Full colour photos and illustrations. Published by the British Geological Survey. 2002.
