GEOLOGY OF THE LAMPETER DISTRICT
A brief explanation of the area covered by geological map Sheet 195

New copy

By J R Davies et al.

The British Geological Survey have produced these 'Sheet Explanations' to describe the geology of newly-surveyed 1:50,000 scale geological maps. They are effectively short guides to the geology of the area covered by the map.

Lampeter is a town in Ceredigion (Cardiganshire), Wales. The district includes the central portion of the Cambrian Mountains in the east and the rolling country between the Aeron and upper Teifi valleys in the west. Thus, the district provides a section across the complex suite of geological formations that fill the Lower Palaeozoic Welsh Basin.

These sheet explanations are only brief (in this case 34 pages) but they are packed with information and have colour photographs.  They are written in a technical style so are not suitable for those with no previous knowledge of geology.

A5 booklet with soft cover. 34 pages. Full colour photos and illustrations. Published by the British Geological Survey. 2003.
