GEOLOGY OF THE KILMARNOCK DISTRICT
A brief explanation of the area covered by geological map Sheet 22E
New copy
By K.A.T MacPherson et al.
The British Geological Survey have produced these 'Sheet Explanations' to describe the geology of newly-surveyed 1:50,000 scale geological maps. They are effectively brief guides to the geology of the area covered by the map.
The Kilmarnock district lies in the south-western part of the Midland Valley of Scotland, extending southwards from the southern suburbs of Glasgow to the hills south of Kilmarnock.
These sheet explanations are only brief (in this case 30 pages) but they are packed with information and colour photographs. They are written in a technical style so are not suitable for those with no previous knowledge of geology.
A5 booklet with soft cover. 30 pages. Full colour photos and illustrations.
