This comprehensive, 444 page geological survey memoir describes the geology of the northern part of the Peak District National Park almost as far south as Buxton. It covers Kinder Scout, Mam Tor, Treak Cliff, Castleton, Middleton Dale and Stanage Edge.
The area is noted for its fossiliferous limestones and associated lead veins, including the famous Blue John mines. It also covers the intrusive igneous rocks and the moorlands and crags of Millstone Grit.
