GEOLOGY OF NEW YORK

A simplified account

Edited by Y.W. Isachsen et. al.

(Softback) (First edition)

(Second hand copy in very good condition)

The geological history of New York State is long and complex. More than a billion years of geology are recorded in the rocks. This record tells of repeated submergences beneath shallow seas, of mountain-building, of volcanoes, dinosaurs, and woolly mammoths, of lush tropical forests and frigid continental glaciers.

As a natural laboratory that is easily accessible to a large population, the diverse geology of New York is perhaps without peer in North America.

Although designed primarily for students, this excellent book is suitable for the general reader as it minimises the use of scientific jargon. The second edition is, essentially, a reprint of the fIrst edition.

Published by the New York State Museum/Geological Survey. 1991. Softback. 284 pages. Profusely illustrated with black and white photos and illustrations. Very good condition.
