GEOLOGY AND SCENERY IN ENGLAND AND WALES

By A.E. Trueman

Paperback (Second hand copy in very good condition)

A. E. Trueman's Geology and Scenery in England and Wales is a classic, pioneering book first published in 1938 and continuously in print right up until the 1970s. This is the most recent 1971 edition, reprinted in 1977 as a popular paperback by Penguin.

This was the first book for the 'motorist and holiday-maker' to describe the scenery of England and Wales and how some of the features have come into being. For example, why are some districts wooded and others cultivated? Why do rivers often take the long way round to the sea? Why are some hills jagged and others rounded?

Illustrated with excellent line diagrams, geological sections and maps. There are also numerous black and white photos.
