Genuine hair of a woolly mammoth from the permafrost in Yacutia, Siberia.
The mammoth’s fur consisted of long, coarse outer hairs with shorter, thinner hairs as a dense, insulating undercoat. The mammoth was supremely adapted to its environment with all parts of its body covered in fur, with hair from a few centimeters to over 90 cm (3 feet) long. The hair is found with frozen carcasses of mammoths up to 40,000 years old.
This sample is provided in a plastic display box with glass lid.
