GALENA CRYSTALS
(TWINNED CRYSTALS)
WITH SPHALERITE
Krushev Dol Mine, Madan Orefield, Smolyan Province, Bulgaria
A small but very fine group of twinned galena crystals from this classic Bulgarian mineral locality.
Crystal 'twinning' occurs when two or more intergrown crystals share the same crystal lattice points and have grown in a symmetrical fashion. In this case multiple twinning has occurred.
Attached to the edge of this specimen is a small group of lustrous, black sphalerite crystals.
