Allenheads Mine, East Allendale, Northumberland

A nice example of well-crystallised galena from the classic lead mining district in the Northern Pennines.

Galena is the main ore of lead. There are well-formed crystals on both sides of this specimen.

This is an 'old time' specimen, probably collected in the early 20th century, and is from an old collection.
