FOSSILIFEROUS DEVONIAN LIMESTONE

400 million years old

Drâa-Tafilalet Region,
Atlas Mountains, Morocco

A large and beautiful polished slab of limestone packed with fossils from the Devonian period.

This is a very good piece - resembling a work of art. These beautiful slabs vary considerably in quality according to the pattern of fossils, so we hand pick them to select the best.

This limestone represents an area of sediment from the sea floor of a vanished ocean 400 million years ago. The fossils include the shells of goniatites (an early type of ammonite) and orthoceras (a primitive cephalopod with a tapering cylindrical shell).

This slice has been polished one side only.
