Upnor Sand Quarry, Lower Upnor, near Rochester, Kent

55 million years old

A selection of fossilised sharks teeth from this classic site.  These fossils were collected in 1992 and are from an old collection. The quarry is now a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

A shark has jaws packed with a frightening array of teeth.  The teeth are only loosely attached to the jaw and often fall out to be preserved in the mud on the sea floor.
