Highcliffe, Hampshire
This beautifully preserved shell of a marine mollusc resembles a modern shell but it is a genuine fossil. It was found in the cliffs of Highcliffe, near Barton-on-Sea in Hampshire, in clays and sands called the Barton Beds that were laid down under the sea in the Upper Eocene period when the climate was warmer than today.
