DIPLODOCUS BONE

Bone of a diplodocus dinosaur from the classic Morrison Formation

140 million years old (Jurassic period)

Morrison Formation
Dana Quarry, Bighorn Mountains, Wyoming, USA

Dana Quarry in Wyoming is one of the most famous dinosaur quarries in the USA where over twelve dinosaur skeletons have been found in a magnificent state of preservation.

During this particular time in the Jurassic period the quarry site may have been a watering hole which would have attracted animals and their prey.

This small piece of bone is from a number of diplodocus bones discovered at this private quarry in 2011.
