TOOTH OF A DINOSAUR

95 million years old

Kem Kem, South-eastern Morocco

A three inch long tooth of the large dinosaur Spinosaurus from rocks of Cretaceous age in Morocco. Presented in a display box with a glass lid. There has been some repair, which is usual, but it is almost unnoticeable.

Spinosaurus had an unusual skull with an extremely long and narrow snout, high nostrils and a large number of small teeth.  These adaptations would have been well-suited to catching fish, although such a large dinosaur must have fed on land animals as well.

However, research published in the National Geographic Magazine suggests that there were enough large fish available at that time to feed such a huge carnivore and Spinosaurus should now be regarded as an aquatic dinosaur. For more information see
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2014/10/spinosaurus-dinosaur/

We have a selection of smaller and cheaper Spinosaurus teeth - please enquire.
