A large and spectacular natural sculpture formed of gypsum crystals

Desert roses are remarkable natural crystal formations. They are rosette-shaped groups of gypsum crystals with inclusions of sand. Desert roses normally form only in arid, sandy environments such as the deserts of North Africa.
This example is from the Sahara Desert. It has a few bruises on the edges of the crystals (gypsum is a soft mineral) but otherwise this is a spectacular natural sculpture that would look great in a home or office.
