Delabole Quarry, Delabole, near Camelford, Cornwall
Delabole slate is of Upper Devonian age, originally deposited as mud on the sea floor about 370 million years ago. The sediments have subsequently been deeply buried and folded and turned into hard, metamorphic rocks known as slates.
The Delabole Quarry has been quarrying these slates for roofing for hundreds of years.
