110 million years old
(Cretaceous period)


Mahajanga Province, North-west Madagascar


A section of an ammonite cut and polished to reveal the inner chambers of the original shell. The chambers have been infilled with crystals of the mineral calcite.  

On the reverse of the ammonite traces of the original shell can be seen.

A plastic stand is included.
