CRETACEOUS AMMONITE

100 million years old

Gault Clay
Copt Point, Folkestone, Kent

A good example of a classic ammonite from the Gault Clay of Folkestone.  The ammonites from this locality are World famous due to their beautiful preservation.

This example is not complete but it is very unusual because it is still attached to the block of clay in which it was found and therefore displays very well.

This fossil was collected in 1995. The name, locality, date and precise zone in which it was found have been engraved around the edges of the block by the collector.
