CRETACEOUS AMMONITE

95 million years old

Middle Chalk

Chinnor, Oxfordshire

The former Chinnor Cement Works Quarry is now a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its excellent exposures of Chalk.

The site has yielded many important ammonites, largely from the Lower Chalk but also from the basal Middle Chalk.

This specimen is not perfect but it is from a location where collecting is no longer possible. It was collected in the early 1980s and is from an old collection.
