CORNISH GRANITE (Polished sample) - Cornwall
« backPolished sample (polished on one side)
Cornish granite varies in texture but is usually speckled with white feldspar crystals, translucent quartz, and muscovite and biotite mica. It has been widely used as a building stone in Cornwall and as a decorative stone worldwide.
Granite now forms the backbone of Cornwall, part of the Cornubian batholith, created during the Variscan mountain building episode in the late Devonian and Carboniferous periods.
This is a nice sample. From an old Cornish collection. Presented in a lidded gift box.
