CONNEMARA MARBLE (POLISHED ON ONE SIDE) - Ireland
« backCONNEMARA MARBLE
Derryclare Lough, near Recess,
Connemara, County Galway, Ireland
The beautiful Connemara marble, varying from pale yellow to dark green, was first quarried commercially in 1822 and has since become one of the world’s most famous ornamental stones.
It was formed when impure limestone was metamorphosed during the Precambrian period over 600 million years ago to form a marble with bands of green serpentine minerals.
This piece is a lovely colour. It is cut and polished on one side.
