COLLECTION OF JURASSIC BRACHIOPODS

170 million years old

Inferior Oolite (Clypeus Grit)
Coopers Hill Quarry, Brockworth, Gloucestershire

Brachiopods are marine animals that look like small clams, but they have a different anatomy and are not closely related to clams or any other molluscs. They lived on the sea floor and were much more abundant during the Palaeozoic and Mesozoic eras than they are today.

A collection of three well-preserved brachiopods from this Gloucestershire quarry, collected in the 1980s.
