JURASSIC AMMONITES

160 million years old

Oxford Clay

Bletchley Brick Works, Newton Longville, Bletchley, Buckinghamshire

A collection of three ammonites from the former Bletchley Brick Works near Milton Keynes. They were collected in 1989 and were part of an old collection. The Lower and Middle Oxford Clay at this pit was highly fossiliferous but the brick works closed in 1990 and the site has been developed for housing.

These ammonites are beautifully preserved in pyrite and have not significantly been affected by pyrite decay in over three decades since they were collected. However, they should preferably be kept in an area with low humidity.
