The beautiful, transparent, doubly-terminated quartz crystals from Herkimer County in New York State are famous throughout the world. Known as ‘Herkimer diamonds’ they are much sought-after by collectors.
The crystals occur in cavities in very hard rock of Cambrian age known as dolostone. They are almost perfect because they have grown with very little contact with the walls of the cavities.
This is a lovely item. The six crystals are contained in a glass gemstone display box.
