Barton-on-Sea, Hampshire
A small collection of beautifully preserved fossil shells of marine molluscs in a plastic display box with a glass lid.
These fossils resemble modern shells but are genuine fossils. They were found in the cliffs of Barton-on-Sea and Highcliffe in Hampshire in clays and sands called the Barton Beds that were laid down under the sea in the Upper Eocene period when the climate was warmer than today.
These fossils were collected in the 1980s.
