Charoite is one of the world's most beautiful and expensive ornamental stones. It is lavender to purple in colour and formed from chemical reactions between marble and the igneous rock syenite.
Charoite is both a gemstone and an ornamental stone. It comes from the Chara River area in Yakutia, Russia. It is found nowhere else.
This is a lovely piece. It is polished on one side with a natural broken surface on the other. It has a cut base so that it displays well without a stand.
