Deep green micro crystals of the rare copper iron phosphate mineral chalcosiderite in gossan matrix from Wheal Phoenix in Cornwall. Wheal Phoenix is the type locality for chalcosiderite.
This is a small old-time specimen which was purchased from the mineral dealer Richard Barstow in 1980. A Barstow label is included.
The Phoenix Mine was worked for copper in the latter half of the nineteenth century and yielded many fine specimens.
