CHABAZITE CRYSTALS

Moonen Bay, Isle of Skye,
Scotland

A good specimen of pale orange chabazite.

Chabazite is a mineral of the zeolite group. It forms attractive crystals and usually occurs with other zeolite minerals in cavities in basalt lava.

The cavities were originally large air bubbles when the lava was molten during a period of intense volcanic activity in western Scotland about 50 million years ago.
