CELESTITE CRYSTALS - Yate, Gloucestershire
« backCELESTITE CRYSTALS
Yate, near Bristol
An attractive piece of celestite with crystals of a gorgeous colour.
Celestite is the main ore of Strontium. Strontium makes flames burn bright red and is therefore used in fireworks and warning flares.
Celestite is a very heavy mineral. This piece is solid celestite and is consequently very heavy for its size. It was collected in the 1980s.
It is slightly friable and releases the odd crystal when handled.
