CATALOGUE OF SCOTTISH EARTHQUAKES 1916-1949

By A. T. J. Dollar

(Softback booklet) (Second hand copy in very good condition)

A review and catalogue of 120 earthquakes which originated in Scotland between 1 January 1916 and 30 April 1949, together with accounts of four other earthquakes.

Most of the records are non-instrumental and have been gathered from periodicals, observatory records and private communications. Others have been derived from answers to appeals for seismological data in newspapers, radio broadcasts, questionnaires, letters and personal interviews.

The booklet is an interesting piece of social history, with each entry recording the effect the earthquake had on people, buildings and infrastructure. It includes a map of Scotland showing the epicentres of Scottish earthquakes in relation to major faults.

Softback. Very good condition. No date (c. 1950). Academic journal offprint from the Transactions of the Geological Society of Glasgow. 4 black and white maps. 79 pages.
