Some of the best calcite crystals from Britain come from the area north of Cardiff where they line cavities in dolomitised limestone.
This gorgeous group of large calcite crystals have ‘stepped’ rhomb faces which are characteristic of calcite crystals from this area. The back of the crystals shows cleaved calcite.
It is from an old collection. It was collected in 1982.
