Coralline Crag
Gedgrave, Suffolk

Bryozoa are filter-feeding aquatic animals that live in colonies and are sometimes called sea mats. They are often mistaken for sponges.

This example is a globular bryozoan from the famous Coralline Crag of Suffolk.  The bryozoan fauna of the Coralline Crag is internationally famous with over 100 species described.

This fossil was collected in the 1970s and is from an old collection. It is presented in a plastic display box.
