« backBARYTOCELESTINE
Cut and polished
Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire.
Barytocelestine is a combination of the minerals barite (barium sulphate) and celestite (strontium sulphate).
In the Chipping Sodbury area of Gloucestershire barytocelestine sometimes occurs as beautiful salmon-pink, banded, fibrous masses, which line fissures in the local Carboniferous Limestone.
This is a gorgeous banded example with one polished side and the other a natural surface.
Presented in a lidded gift box.
