Barytocelestine is a combination of the minerals barite (barium sulphate) and celestite (strontium sulphate). In the Chipping Sodbury area of Gloucestershire barytocelestine occurs as beautiful salmon-pink banded fibrous masses, which line fissures in the local Carboniferous Limestone.
The rear of this specimen is coated in pyrite crystals.
