BALMORAL GRANITE (CUT AND POLISHED) - Finland
« backVehmaa, Turku District, SW Finland
This highly attractive and popular granite is of Precambrian age and is mostly composed of brick-red potassium feldspar, smoky quartz, biotite mica and hornblende.
It acquired its Scottish-sounding name in the early 20th century, a time when granites from Scandinavia were shipped to Aberdeen to be cut and polished before being re-exported all over the World.
This is a lovely little sample. Polished on one side.
