AMBER WITH A FOSSIL INSECT - 40 million years old - Baltic
« backAMBER - CONTAINING A FOSSIL INSECT
40 million years old
From the Baltic coast of Eastern Europe
Small pieces of polished amber, each containing a tiny fossil insect. Each piece is provided in a plastic display box with a descriptive label as shown.
Because the smallest insects were most frequently trapped by the sticky resin, almost all insects in amber are very small. The insect in each piece is visible with the naked eye but a hand lens is recommended to see the insect clearly. Large insects in amber are rare.
